From the very beginning of the season, Takuro Shinohara has been one of the fastest contenders in TCR Japan. Finally, after a series of unfortunate circumstances in the previous events, he made up for the disappointing results and dominated the event at Okayama. He topped the field in the three Practices, both Qualifying sessions and the two races that marked the first victories for Audi, the fourth brand to win a race in the championship after Honda, Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo. Shinohara therefore scored maximum points and took the lead in the standings, one point clear of Takeshi Matsumoto when only one event is left, at Suzuka on October 25/27. The title fight will be red hot, with six drivers covered by 24 points. Yu Kanamaru and Shogo Mitsuyama are equal on points, 11 behind the leader, in third and fourth positions respectively, Shuji Maejima lies in fifth position a further four points adrift and nine ahead of Matthew Howson.
