TCR World and life

24 SCANDINAVIA The battles for the two TCR Scandinavia titles went right down to the wire, with both only being decided during the season’s final race at Mantorp Park. Arriving at the circuit, no fewer than four men were in with a chance of the Drivers’ crown, while the Teams’ championship was a two-way battle between PWR Racing and Brink Motorsport. Robert Dahlgren arrived at Mantorp Park as the series leader, with an advantage of 21 points over Tobias Brink thanks to his three race victories versus Brink’s two. Ten points behind Brink was Andreas Ahlberg, while the fourth man with a mathematical chance of taking the title was Brink’s teammate Andreas Wernersson, a further seven points adrift. Qualifying saw Brink claim his first pole position in the series, so he was clearly determined not to make things easy for Dahlgren. RACE 1 – ANDERSSON PIPS BRINK AT THE LAST TURN Brink’s Audi led the first race almost from lights to flag, but an aggressive dive up the inside at the very last corner of the final lap saw the Honda Civic FK2 of Mattias Andersson snatch victory from Brink in the race’s dying moments. With Dahlgren finishing third, ahead of both Ahlberg and Wernersson, the Drivers’ championship battle had come down to a straight fight between Dahlgren and Brink in Race 2, while Brink Motorsport was now 20 points ahead of PWR Racing. The final fourteen-lap race of the season would therefore decide both titles. RACE 2 – BRINK GOES OFF AFTER CONTACT WITH HAGLÖF Wernersson made a great start from pole on the reversed grid, but he was unable to help his teammate, who started from P6.
