28 AMERICA A fourth place in class was enough for Michael Hurczyn to clinch the TC America title for TCR in the championship’s closing event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For the first time all season, the FCP Euro driver’s Volkswagen Golf GTI didn’t have the pace to fight for the top positions and so he cruised in both races while focusing on the ultimate goal. The star of the finale in Nevada was Mason Filippi who celebrated his return to the series with back-to-back victories. The final tally of Filippi and his Copeland Motorsport Hyundai Veloster N was six victories out of ten participations because, due to clashing commitment in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Filippi missed three of the seven events. Despite this he finished third in the standings behind the FCP Euro duo of Michael Hurczyn and Nate Vincent. RACE 1 – PUTT SECURES THE CROWN IN THE DSG CUP James Walker started from the back of the TCR grid after missing both the Practice and Qualifying sessions with power steering failure, but his nightmare weekend continued as he was eliminated in an incident with Victor González right after the start. Filippi sprinted from pole ahead of Vincent and Michael McCann; González’s Honda spun at T1 and collected Walker’s Alfa Romeo. Both cars retired and the safety car was deployed.
