14 MALAYSIA Engstleragainstallodds THE GERMANWINS TWICE AT SEPANG AND RETAINS THE TITLE Luca Engstler had to fill a gap of 21 points from Daniel Lloyd before the final event of TCR Malaysia. However, at the end of two exciting races at the Sepang International Circuit, the young German scored maximum points and so retained the title, helped by his Hyundai fellow drivers – Mitchell Cheah and Josh Files – who managed to take crucial points away from Lloyd. Engstler claimed pole position and two lights-to-flag wins, while his rival found himself the only Honda driver against a quartet of Hyundai cars. Lloyd fought stubbornly, and retained a leading margin of 13 points at the end of a first race that had an unpleasant sequel with protests lodged after a series of clashes between him, Cheah and Files. Then, in the second race, with the threat of a 30-second penalty hanging over him, Lloyd was sandwiched between his rivals who eventually relegated him to fourth; Douglas Khoo clinched the Cup for amateur drivers. RACE 1 – FILES AND LLOYD PROTEST AFTER THE FIGHT Engstler started from pole after setting the quickest time in a close Qualifying session with a lap of 2:14.677, which was less than three tenths faster than this meant that Engstler and Lloyd finished on equal points, but the former was crowned champion thanks to the number of victories: 4 to 1. Malaysian team Viper Niza Racing enjoyed its share of glory on its home track, as Gilbert Ang put in two more solid performances to secure third place in the championship, while
