20 VLN NLS again its expertise on the infamous Nordschleife and won both races with the CUPRA driven by Matthias Wasel and Heiko Hammel. In the Adenauer Rundstrecken-Trophy, Wasel and Hammel got the better of the Honda Civic Type R entered by Autohaus Fugel that WTCR driver Tiago Monteiro shared with Dominik Fugel and Mike Halder by 57.8 seconds. The podium was completed by the Lubner Motorsport Opel Astra of Roland Schmid, Roger Vögeli and Michael Brüggenkamp that finished two laps behind. It’s worth pointing out that only 46 The new season of the VLN Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie kicked off at the end of June with the 51. Hammel (Mathilda Racing, CUPRA) thousandths of a second split the Honda from the CUPRA in Qualifying, over a lap of 8 minutes and 49 seconds. The Civic improved its qualification time by one and a half seconds in the Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen, while the attempts of the CUPRA drivers were repeatedly frustrated by yellow flags. During the first hour of the race Hammel was able to catch up with Fugel and they delivered a close fight until the Honda retired at the end of the eighth lap with an engine issue, and so Wasel and Hammel could claim their second win in fourteen days.
