TCR World and life

27 AMERICA end of the 40-minute races. The only occasion in which Maxson was not ahead occurred in Qualifying, when he lost pole position to Victor González Jr by 83 thousandths of a second. With Maxson in a league of his own, the thrills of the weekend were provided by González and Roy Block who were fighting for the other podium positions. In Race 1, González defended second place from a charging Block, but halfway through the race, he was able to shake him off. In the second race, Block was firmly in Tyler Maxson’s winning streak in the TCR class of TC America seems endless. At Sonoma International Raceway, where the COVID-19 restrictions in California meant many competitors skipped the event reducing the field to only four cars, the Copeland Motorsport teenager scored three more race wins, increasing his tally to eight out of eight. The script was the same for all three races. Maxson and his Hyundai Veloster N jumped into the lead at the start, pushed hard during the first laps to create a gap of a few seconds and then controlled the leading margin until the Catchme, ifyou can! Round 6 – Friday 7 August, Sonoma International Raceway 1. T. Maxson (Copeland Motorsports, Hyundai Veloster N); 2. V. González (VGMC Racing, Honda Civic Type R); 3. R. Block (KMW Motorsports-TMR Engineering, Alfa Romeo Giulietta) Round 7 – Saturday 8 August, Sonoma International Raceway 1. T. Maxson (Copeland Motorsports, Hyundai Veloster N); 2. V. González (VGMC Racing, Honda Civic Type R); 3. CJ Moses (DXDT Racing, Honda Civic Type R) Round 8 – Sunday 9 August, Sonoma International Raceway 1. T. Maxson (Copeland Motorsports, Hyundai Veloster N); 2. R. Block (KMW Motorsports-TMR Engineering, Alfa Romeo Giulietta); 3. V. González (VGMC Racing, Honda Civic Type R) second place; however, twelve minutes before the end the pace of his Alfa Romeo Giulietta faded and Block retired into the pits, which promoted González and CJ Moses to second and third. Race 3 saw Block repeating his defence of second position from the attacks of González. The Argentine and the Puerto Rican ran together for all of the race, with the Honda hanging onto the Alfa’s tail. This time Block was able to resist until the end, beating González by six tenths after a thrilling final lap. The next event of TC America will be on 28/30 August at Road America.
