Navickas (Lesta Racing Team, CUPRA DSG) Mikel Azcona and his co-driver Evgenyi Leonov began the 2020 Campeonato de España Resistencia with a double victory in the TCR class in the season opener at Navarra's Circuito de Los Arcos. In both 48-minute races, the Spanish-Russian pairing drove their Volcano Motorsport CUPRA to claim dominant wins in the TCR class. Guillermo Aso (PCR Sport, CUPRA) twice finished in second position, while the podium was completed by the young rookie Ferrán Mendez in Race 1 and by Philipp Smaali-Álvaro Fontes in Race 2. The series will return to action at Valencia on August 29/30. For the second consecutive year the Noker Racing Team won the TCR Baltic Trophy that was awarded during the Aurum 1006Km race on the Palanga road course in Lithuania. Last year’s champions K ę stutis Stasionis and Egidijus Valeiša shared the Lithuanian Azcona-LeonovopentheCERwithadoublewin NokerRacingTeamretains theTCRBalticTrophy team’s Volkswagen Golf GTI with Justas Jonušis and Sten Piirimagi. During the eight-hour race, the Volkswagen was steadily climbing up in the classification and eventually finished third overall behind two Porsche cars, only 34 seconds behind the second-classified 911 GT3. Second in the TCR class was another Golf GTI entered by Sauda with GSR Motorsport that Mindaugas Liatukas, Marius Mišk ū nas and Ernesta Globyt ė drove to finish in sixth position overall with a gap of nine laps from the winners. The podium was completed by the Lesta Racing Team CUPRA of Nerijus Bali ū nas, Jonas Karklys, Audrius Navickas and Aurimas Jablonskis.
