Halder made a terrific start and led Taoufik going into Turn 1, but the Comtoyou Audi driver later received a drive-through penalty for a jump start and so all hopes of a podium finish evaporated. With Girolami passing Teddy Clairet’s Peugeot, the race delivered a Honda 1-2 for a delighted Halder and Girolami, while Clairet claimed his first TCR Europe podium in third. Again, there were some great battles among the top ten, with Andreas Bäckman having to settle for fourth after being unable to pass Clairet, and Bennani holding off Race 1 winner Lloyd for P4. Filippi, Jessica Bäckman, Nicolas Baert and Nagy completed the top ten. After the opening weekend, Lloyd holds a one-point lead over Bennani in the Drivers’ championship. The next event will be at Zolder in Belgium on September 11th-13th.
