24 JAPAN TAKURO SHINOHARA AND TAKESHI MATSUMOTO ARE THE PRETENDERS TO THE TITLES OF BOTH THE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SERIES Takuro Shinohara claimed a comfortable victory in TCR Japan’s Race 1 at Twin Ring Motegi (above); this was the second win of the season for the Hitotsuyama Racing’s driver. Takeshi Matsumoto tried to chase Shinohara in the first part of the race, but then lost contact and had to defend his second position from Ryo Shimono during the final laps. Matsumoto, the reigning champion of the Sunday Series, took his revenge with an outstanding victory in Race 2 (below), in which he put in a great defensive drive to keep Shinohara at bay for the whole 11 laps. The pair delivered a thrilling fight, making contact several times, and eventually Shinohara had to settle for second. Afight between Audi andVolkswagen
