5 After the first four events of a WTCR season that has been delayed and shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic, Yann Ehrlacher and Esteban Guerrieri have emerged as the major contenders for the title, with three race wins apiece. Ehrlacher began in style, leading home a trio of Lynk & Co cars in the second race at Zolder (left); the young Frenchman won again in Germany and Hungary, building a 22-point lead over Guerrieri in the standings. After a disappointing start in Belgium, where he was stopped by an engine failure, Guerrieri struck back with an authoritative win in the first race at the Nürburgring (below) and then claimed a double victory at the Hungaroring, moving into P2 of the standings. It was Néstor Girolami who opened the season at Zolder with a lights-to-flag victory in Race 1 (above). However, in the following events the Argentine driver was involved in a couple incidents and dropped to fourth in the points.
