TCR World and life

26 Takuro Shinohara dominated the TCR Japan championship, winning nine races from twelve and clinching both the Saturday and Sunday series’ titles. In the final part of the season Shinohara and his Team Hitotsuyama Audi RS 3 LMS scored five victories at Autopolis, Suzuka and Fuji. He only failed twice, when his car suffered from an engine issue during the second race at Autopolis and when he was involved in an incident at the start of Suzuka’s Race 2. On those occasions, ‘Hirobon’ and Rio Shimono emerged as the winners. After starting the season at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI, ‘Hirobon’ switched to a CUPRA and was then a consistent podium finisher. He claimed his maiden TCR Japan victory at Autopolis, finished third in the standings of the Sunday series and grabbed the title of the Bronze class. Shimono was the best of the Honda drivers and at Suzuka she became the first female to win a TCR Japan race. Finishing fourth and fifth in the final event of the season at Fuji meant she was classified third in the Saturday series and was crowned champion of the Bronze class.
