TCR World and life
7 Münnich Motorsport drivers Esteban Guerrieri and Néstor Girolami (right) tried everything to keep the title fight alive until the end. In the final event they dominated the first race after making a risky tyre choice for their Honda Civic cars – slicks on the front and wets on the rear – on a track that was quickly drying. Their gamble paid off and Guerrieri (left) won the race from Girolami, reducing his gap to Ehrlacher to 16 points. However, Guerrieri’s title hopes vanished when he retired after being involved in an incident at the beginning of Race 2. Mikel Azcona gave the first WTCR victory to the new CUPRA León Competición in the second race of the first event at Motorland Aragón (below). In his maiden WTCR season, Gilles Magnus won the Rookie Trophy at the wheel of a Comtoyou Racing Audi RS 3 LMS (above).
