At the wheel of his Alfa Romeo Giulietta run by the independent Team Mulsanne, the former TCR International champion claimed one race win in Spain and finished on the podium on four other occasions during the season. Vernay was also awarded the trophy for independent drivers. The last two races of the season were won by Lynk & Co drivers Yvan Muller and Santiago Urrutia. With his victory in Race 2 of the final event (left), Muller moved into the runner-up spot in the standings behind his nephew, while the young Uruguayan driver claimed his maiden WTCR victory in Race 3 (below).
