In fact, the duellists resumed their fight in the championship’s opening round at Monza where Tavano won both races ahead of Brigliadori, the first one in the wet and the second under the sun (above). It was again a battle between experience and speed. Brigliadori set pole position on a drying track but spoiled everything with a poor start in Race 1 and had to elbow his way through the field, while Tavano passed Igor Stefanovski for the lead in the third lap and pulled away, building a comfortable gap. In the second race Tavano and Brigliadori started from P6 and P8. With surgical precision Tavano chose the right moments and spots to jump the cars in front of him; Brigliadori tried to follow, but when he finally moved into P2 it was too late and he was beaten on the line by less than two tenths. However, this duel may very well become a three-way fight, as Kevin Ceccon (right) has proved he can fight on equal terms.
