Kvedaras (GSRMotorsport, Volkswagen Golf GTI DSG) The #1 Autorama Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI secured a double victory in the 24H Series’ Rounds 3 and 4. In the 12H Circuit Paul Ricard the Swiss team took a 1-2 finish with Emil Heyerdahl in the #1 Golf he shared with Constantin Kletzer, Jérôme Ogay and Yannick Mettler leading Rhys Lloyd in the #112 sister car across the line. The #188 AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS had pulled two laps clear of the rest of the field with two hours left, but issues with the rear left wheel forced two unscheduled pit stops that dropped the Belgian team to third. The 12H Hockenheim then saw Heyerdal’s Golf beating the AC Motorsport Audi of Mathieu Detry by only 4.3 seconds. The two cars had been nose-to-tail on Saturday throughout the first part of the event, and the pair were split by just nine seconds after six and a half hours. During Sunday’s leg, both cars continued their close fight and following both teams’ final pit stops, the Volkswagen and the Audi were still on the same lap. Detry was scything into Heyerdahl’s lead at a rate of just under a second per lap when the Audi was forced to make a late splash- and-dash with eight minutes left. Two laps later, the Volkswagen also had to pit for fuel with the two cars separated by less than 10 seconds. Ultimately, Heyerdahl, Kletezer and Jasmin Preisig were able to secure Autorama Motorsport’s second successive win of the season. The first round of the Bec6H at Riga Bikernieki saw the ALM Customer Racing Honda Civic Type R FK2 (Peek/Karuse/Bundsen) claiming victory ahead of the Noker Racing Team Volkswagen Golf GTI (Slabosevičius/Stasionis/Piirimagi).
