10 PURE ETCR Although the first of the Romeo Ferraris M1RA drivers – Rodrigo Baptista – is only placed fifth in the standings, 76 points off the leader, the Giulia cars run by the Italo- Hungarian team may become arbiters of the battle for the title. The last car to hit the track during the pre- season tests, the Giulia has quickly closed the gap to the Hyundai Veloster N and CUPRA e-Racer, proving to be equally fast and reliable. The results achieved in the Danish and Hungarian events surprised those who were not aware of the competence and determination of the outfit managed by Michela Cerruti and Mario Ferraris. With three wins from the latest four Super Finals, the Giulia has matched the number of victories claimed by the CUPRA. Luca Filippi pipped Ekström to the finish line in Copenhagen’s Pool A Super Final, while Philipp Eng – who joined the team after the first two events – has won twice, on his debut race at Copenhagen ahead of Jordi Gené and Azcona and then again at the Hungaroring where he beat Ekström (below).
