43 SPRINT RACES The CTCC resumed racing atTrois-Rivières ìIn the third event of the Baltic Touring Car Championship, Valters Zviedris and Mikk Maaten shared victories once again. At Pärnu, Maaten won the first race in his Krauman Motors Volkswagen Golf GTI, beating Kęstutis Stasionis’s Golf GTI run by Noker Racing Team, with Zviedris’ LV Racing Audi RS 3 LMS in third position. Zviedris responded with victory in Race 2, from Maaten and Stasionis. Now the two rivals are jointly leading the standings on 126 points with only one round left at Riga Bikernieki. After the pandemic forced the cancellation of several events, the Canadian Touring Car Championship's 2021 season kicked off in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, where competitors took part in the traditional Friday night race before concluding the weekend on Saturday morning. Brothers Tom and Gary Kwok shared TCR victories on the street circuit. In Race 1 Gary, who had been fastest in Qualifying, and Tom delivered a tense battle at the wheel of their M&S Racing Honda Civic cars. Eventually Tom managed to beat the 2019 champion Gary by four seconds. On Saturday morning, Tom once again led the way until Gary finally found his way around his brother. Tom then suffered a mechanical issue and retired with three laps to go, which allowed Louis-Philippe Montour and Jocelyn Hébert to finish second and third behind Gary. With a double win at Magione’s Autodromo dell’Umbria, Mauro Guastamacchia secured the title in the Coppa Italia Turismo at the wheel of the Aggressive Team Italia Hyundai i30 N. Guastamacchia began the weekend by setting the pole, beating Marco Butti’s Élite Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI by 0.075 seconds. He then claimed a lights-to-flag victory in the first race, with Butti third overall and second in TCR, and Federico Borrett completing the class podium on his first appearance in a CUPRA run by Lema Racing. Despite starting from P4 on the grid, Guastamacchia encored in the second race, taking the lead from Butti in the early stages and never looking back. Butti and Borrett were second and third in the class once again, as they finished second and fifth overall.
