24 GERMANY Three years after finishing as runner-up in the ADAC TCR Germany, Luca Engstler (centre right) was crowned the 2021 champion when he finished fourth in the season’s twelfth race at Hockenheim. At the wheel of his Team Engstler Hyundai i30 N, the German youngster has systematically built his success throughout the season, winning six races and finishing on the podium on four other occasions and giving a third consecutive title to the Hyundai Team Engstler. Engstler staked his ultimate claim on the title by converting pole position into victory in the first race at Hockenheim (above), which left Dominik Fugel as the last remaining contender, but with a huge gap to fill. And yet, Fugel had done his best to fight until the bitter end, dominating the previous event at the Sachsenring – his home circuit – where he scored a pair of authoritative victories in his Team ADAC Sachsen Honda Civic Type R (right).
