3 SPOTLIGHT After a long development, all motorsport lovers around the world are finally able to test and race TCR cars on the most iconic tracks at home, with their computers. This is the first public esports competition promoted by WSC Group, the organisation responsible for real- world TCR racing, in cooperation with RaceDepartment. A unique knockout system, made possible by Simracing.GP, means that everyone can take part in it. It’s an esports tournament like no one else that has seen before: rather than setting a time on a hotlap leaderboard, in TCR Virtual all competitors can race their way to victory. An officially licensed TCR mod for Assetto Corsa has been developed, featuring seven different TCR cars – Alfa Romeo, Audi, CUPRA, Hyundai, Honda, Lynk & Co, Peugeot – each one with its own ‘personality’ and as similar as possible to the real cars. The number of competitors promoted to the following rounds will be reduced until only twenty are left for participating in the Continental Finals. Each Continental Final will consist of two races, the second featuring a reverse starting grid. TCR’s traditional point scoring system will be used to determine each Continental Champion. The Continental Finals will take place on 10th December, at 19:00 Local Time and will be broadcast worldwide on TCR YouTube channel, as well as RaceDepartment Twitch and YouTube channels. The first three classified of each Continental Final will be invited to the on-site TCR Virtual Grand Finale, which will be held in 2022. In order to avoid difference in performance, all cars have the same reactions and handling. The mod will be regularly updated and soon Renault, LADA and MG cars will be available as well as the ETCR cars. Entering the competition is for free, and it features spectacular prizes including a €10,000 prize pool and the chance to win a test drive in a real TCR car. To qualify for the Knockout Tournament, the competitors must take part in a ten-minute Qualification Race and finish it without incidents. They can participate in as many qualifying heats as they like over four weeks, right up until the final day of the first round.
