8 WTCR The season finale in Russia was dominated by the CUPRA Leon Competición cars entered by Zengő Motorsport. In Race 1, the freshly-crowned TCR Europe champion Mikel Azcona gave the Spanish brand its first victory of the season (top right) and his teammate Rob Huff then won the second race (above). Azcona became the driver who has won the most TCR races in 2021, with 11 victories spread between WTCR, TCR Europe, TCR Italy and TCR Spain, while the Briton returned to win a WTCR race three years after the 2018 event at Suzuka. The event in Sochi featured the maiden appearance of the LADA Vesta Sport in WTCR. The two Russian cars driven by Kirill Ladygin – the 2020 and 2021 TCR Russia champion – and Mikhail Mityaev struggled to find a good pace and ran at the back of the field for the whole weekend (right).
