battled with Tony D’Alberto’s Honda
for the podium places while Brown
could only finish tenth.
In Race 3, O’Keefe rounded off a near-
perfect weekend with another lights-
to-flag victory, scoring 50 valuable
championship points and so closing
the gap to Brown. Ingall encored his
second-place finish from Race 2, while
D’Alberto held onto third position to
record his first podium finish since
the opening weekend of the series at
Sydney in May. Crucially, Brown was
embroiled in a battle with Jordan
Cox’s Alfa Romeo but the series leader
could only manage to finish eighth,
although he gained a place when
John Martin received a five-second
penalty that dropped him two
positions.
The frustrating weekend for Brown,
coupled with two wins and a second
place for O’Keefe, means Brown’s lead
was more than halved in Queensland;
the pair are now separated by 57
points, with D’Alberto having moved
up into third in the Drivers’ standings
and is now 42 points behind O’Keefe.
