SCANDINAVIA

Mattias Andersson and Tobias Brink

took one race victory apiece in TCR

Scandinavia’s fifth race meeting at

Karlskoga.

In Race 1, Andersson made a terrific

start from second on the grid and beat

Robert Dahlgren to T1, with Tomas

Engström, who’d started from P4, being

passed by both Mikaela Åhlin-

Kottulinsky and Brink. Much of the

race was then fairly processional, but

on Lap 15, Engström made contact with

Brink whose Audi ran wide and this

allowed both Engström and Andreas

Wernersson to pass for fifth and sixth

places respectively. Engström’s joy was

short-lived, however, as he locked his

brakes after contact with Wernersson

who moved up into fifth. Andersson

took the victory from Dahlgren and

Andreas Ahlberg; Åhlin-Kottulinsky

finished fourth ahead of Wernersson,

but the latter was handed a ten-second

penalty for the contact with Engström

and dropped to ninth.

Brink took a lights-to-flag victory in

Race 2. He made a brisk getaway and

led the field into T1; behind him

Andersson made contact with Engström

who in turn hit Dahlgren. Andersson

was able to continue, but both

Engström and Dahlgren were forced to

retire. Ahlberg passed Åhlin-

Kottulinsky to lie in second place

behind Brink; the trio ran together for

the remainder of the seventeen-lap

race, but the positions remained

unchanged. Behind the podium places,
