          100

100 points up for grabs, two

meetings and just four races still to

          go. The F.Renault 2.0 ALPS

          competition enters the final straight

over the weekend of the 8th

          September at the challenging and

          highly technical Mugello circuit.

There are four drivers who still have

          a mathematical chance of winning

          the championship, although Kevin

Joerg, with 64 points, is no longer

realistically in the running. In fact,

even if he were to get to 164 points

by winning all four remaining races,

          the Swiss Jenzer Motorsport driver

would have to rely on the highly

          unlikely scenario of the current

leader Antonio Fuoco (159) failing to

score any more points, and neither

          Bruno Bonifacio (138) nor Luca

          Ghiotto (135) managing to

          accumulate enough points to reach

          164. Anything's possible in

          motorsports, however realistically it’s

now down to the three Prema

          Powertam drivers: Fuoco, Bonifacio

and Ghiotto, to decide the winner of

          this year’s ALPS championship and

follow in the footsteps of last year’s

winner Daniil Kvat and the 2011

          champion, Javier Tarancon.

Angelo Rosin’s drivers have won all

the races so far in Vallelunga, Imola,

          Spa, Monza and Misano: four

victories for Fuoco, and three each

for Bonifacio and Ghiotto. So the in

the end the season has come down

to a sort of in-house competition for

Prema Powerteam, but it will be

interesting to see if any of the

          season’s most promising young

drivers, such as Egor Orudzhev of

Tech 1 Racing, or Joerg, can

          interrupt Prema Powerteam’s run of

victories in Mugello or Imola. In fact,

the Tuscan track is an unforgiving

one and provides the ideal setting

for a driver to showcase his true

quality, so it will be important to

keep a close eye not only on Fuoco,

Bonifacio and Ghiotto, but also on

          the Jenzer Motorsport, Tech 1

          Racing, ARTA Engineering, Euronova

          Racing, GSK Grand Prix,

          Interwetten.com, Koiranen GP, JD

          Motorsport, BVM Racing, Viola

Formula, and TS Corse drivers, who

will all be doing their utmost to get

that elusive first place finish. So,

good luck to one and all and let’s get

          this show on the road!

          100 points still available

          4 races to go

4 drivers with still in with

          a mathematical chance

          of winning the title

Ghiotto and Joerg on the podium in Misano
