At the same time Oriola, Morbidelli and

Nash had their share of bad luck. After

another decent weekend in Imola, with

a second place in Race 1, Oriola was

forced to retire by an electrical

problem while leading Race 1 in

Austria and subsequently failed to

start Race 2. Morbidelli and Nash had

experienced a similar situation in

Imola where the Italian lost victory in

Race 1 due to a power-steering failure

and the Briton was sidelined by an

engine issue.

Now 18 points are all that separate the

top six drivers after 10 of the year’s 22

races. Comini leads by one point ahead

of Oriola, Nash is third, eight points

adrift of the leader, Vernay and

Morbidelli follow, both with a gap of

13 points, while Homola lies in sixth.

And other competitors are eager to

join the fight: Sergey Afanasyev who

has proved he has the pace to score a

maiden victory, his countryman

Mikhail Grachev who has already

claimed two after switching team and

car, and Dušan Borkovi

ć

, if he only

could manage to steer away of

trouble…

Who will bet on which of them will be

next to experience the highs or lows of

what is turning out to be a fascinating

season?
