Race 2 began with a series of

incidents before the cars had even

reached the first corner. Tom

Coronel collided with the rear of

Pepe Oriola’s SEAT, which then hit

the Volkswagen Golf GTI of pole-

sitter Maxime Potty; the damage

eventually forcing the Spaniard to

pull out of the race. The remainder

of the race then turned into a

thriller, with Rob Huff taking the

lead on lap 2 and then perfectly

judging the moment to back off and

allow his teammate Jean-Karl

Vernay to slingshot from third place

into the lead. Comini, starting from

tenth on the grid, managed to

avoid the first corner dramas and

moved into third place on lap 7.

That was how it finished, with

Vernay and Huff giving the Leopard

Racing Volkswagen cars a 1-2 and a

delighted Comini adding third place

to his win in Race 1.

It had been a weekend to forget for

Lukoil Craft-Bamboo (8th for James

Nash in Race 2 was their best

result) and DG Sport Compétition,

which scored a solitary point when

Pierre-Yves Corthals finished 10th

in Race 1. Similarly, WestCoast

Racing left Spa licking their wounds

after Giacomo Altoè was their only

points-scorer (10th in Race 2).
