Il team Pons sta preparando la stagione 2007

Riceviamo dal team Pons, e pubblichiamo, il comunicato stampa relativo ai test invernali della World Series Renault:

"During the second week of November the Pons Racing team took part in the first of a series of collective tests for the World Series by Renault 3.5 with the presence of a number of young drivers emanating from the various Renault formula championships and other national formula championships. This first test was aimed at giving the young talents selected by Renault Sport a first taste of the World Series, the breeding ground of future stars of Formula One. In 2007 some of those young drivers present will be taking on the challenge of following in the footsteps of Fernando Alonso, Heikki Kovalainen, Robert Kubica, and other World Series former champions".

"The Danish driver Steffen Möller, recently crowned champion of the Nordic Series FR 2.0, was the driver selected by the Renault Sport committee to test with Pons Racing. At the end of the day’s testing, Möller was able to reflect on the enormous power and handling difference between the FR 3.5 car and the FR 2.0, the car with which he won the 2006 Nordic Series".

"Next week, the Pons Racing team in full will travel to the second series of collective tests at the Italian circuit of Vallelunga to undertake a complete test program with prominent drivers from various international championships. During the two days of testing at the Roman circuit, four drivers will be putting the Pons Racing FR 3.5 cars through their paces: Fabrizio Crestani (Italian F-3), Julian Theobold (Champion Euroseries Driver's Trophy), his brother Johannes (German F-3) and the British driver Pippa Mann who has come to prominence in the British FR 2.0 and the Eurocup FR 2.0".

"The calendar of preseason tests continues with a third outing at the Circuit de la Comunitat in Valencia where young Spanish driver Miguel Molina will get behind the wheel alongside James Walker (British F-3) and a third driver to be announced.
Pons Racing will be announcing its 2007 team line-up following the collective test sessions in March and will be seeking to revive its tradition of breeding young champions. The team’s goal is clear: repeat the triumphs achieved by its drivers Heikki Kovalainen (World Series Champion 2004) and Adrián Vallés (Runner-up World Series by Renault 2005) when racing for the team".

"The Pons Racing team is headed by double World Motorcycling Champion Sito Pons while all technical matters are supervised by the highly experienced Chus Sánchez who has three World Series titles (Ricardo Zonta, Franck Montagny, Hekki Kovalainen) and two runner-up places to his credit".
