La Ford non è più lo
sponsor della Champ Car

Era ancorata alle monoposto da una sponsorizzazione alla Champ Car. Ma ieri la Ford ha deciso di uscire definitivamente dalle formule annunciando che quest'anno il suo marchio non comparirà più lungo le piste dove si disputano gare Champ Car. Ford si dedicherà esclusivamente alle tre serie Nascar, ovvero la Nextel Cup, la Busch Series e la Craftsman. Per la Champ Car sicuramente un brutto colpo anche se il presidente della categoria, Steve Johnson, ha subito dichiarato ad Autosport che il ritiro della Ford non preoccupa. Le continue perdite economiche del colosso americano hanno convinto la dirigenza a tagliare le spese definite inutili.
Anche se i motori della Champ Car sono denominati Ford, in realtà la Cosworth è stata acquistata un paio di anni fa da Kevin Kalkhoven, co-proprietario della categoria e tale azienda non ha più nulla a che fare con la Casa di Detroit.

Ford decided to completely retire from open-wheel racing by ending its relation with the ChampCar World Series. The only motorsport business to be left in place will be the involvement in Nascar's top three series: the Nextel Cup, the Busch Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series. The news is with no doubd a bad hit for the series, especially from the economical side, as the engines used in the ChampCar are built and maintained by Kevin Kalkhoven owned Cosworth that no longer haves links with Ford. Champcar's President, speaking to Autosport, showed to have no major preoccupations about the future of the series, but the loss of a major sponsor will be something problematic to deal with, especially considering the expansion phase that ChampCar is undergoing.
